Regina Pinna-Marfurt appointed as new Managing Director of the EMScom program at USI on April 15, 2013

Regina Pinna-Marfurt has been appointed the new Managing Director of the Executive Master of Science in Communications Management (EMScom) at the USI Università della Svizzera italiana and will succeed Nina Volles effective April 15, 2013. Nina Volles, who has been at the helm of the Executive MScom program since 2004, has decided to step down from her position and refocus her personal and professional priorities.

Professor Francesco Lurati, Academic Director of the Executive MScom program and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences said, “I am thankful to Nina Volles for her valuable contributions over the past nine years, which have been decisive in positioning the Executive MScom as one of the leading part-time programs for mid-career communication professionals internationally. “I welcome Regina Pinna, who will take over as Managing Director of EMScom from April 15, 2013. Regina Pinna’s credentials and her vast experience in corporate communication and marketing in various industries, combined with her network, brings the ideal skill set to add value to the Executive MScom program. As one of the co-founders of the Alumni Association, being a graduate of the pioneer Executive Master program in 2000, she knows the program’s values, benefits and networking opportunities within the community.”


During the past 18 months Regina Pinna has been an independent PR consultant and has worked with an established, leading Swiss communication agency. From 2001 until 2011 she worked for B-Source, of which she was Head of Corporate Communication and Media Relations. Regina Pinna has worked for a telecommunication company as its Regional Marketing and Sales Manager;  as a publisher of the women’s magazine “annabelle” at Tamedia in Zurich; and as a Product Manager at Credit Suisse’s headquarters. “I am delighted to take on this new challenge to leverage a unique Executive Master’s program together with the Academic Director and the EMScom core team. Over the last decade they have created a solid foundation on which we can build the future of the program. Our goal is to strengthen the program’s reputation globally,” said Regina Pinna on the occasion of her appointment.

Regina Pinna studied German Literature and the Science of Communication at the University of Bern. In addition, she possesses a federal diploma for publishing matters. She also graduated from USI Università della Svizzera italiana completing the Executive Master of Science in Communications Management (EMScom).
