Jeanne Mengis

Associate Professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (USI), Università della Svizzera italiana (CH).

Jeanne Mengis is the director of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Management (IMCA), Associate Professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (USI) and an associate fellow at Warwick Business School, UK.

In her research, she works on a communication perspective on processes of organizing and conducts research on cross-disciplinary collaboration, knowledge integration, the role of objects and materiality in boundary work, and evidence-based learning. Her recent research projects deal with coordinating in situations of temporariness (e.g. in a hospital´s emergency department) and with aspects of justification and of space in coordination (e.g. an SNSF funded project within the context of construction). From 2012 to 2014, she has been Associate Dean of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Communication Studies at USI.

She published her work in papers such as Organization Science, Organization Studies, Organization, or Social Science & Medicine. In 2011, she co-authored a book with Martin J. Eppler called "Management Atlas", which aims to make theoretical advancements in management literature accessible to practitioners by working with visual metaphors.

Prior to her current engagement, she was a post-doctoral visiting fellow at Warwick Business School and Boston University, School of Management and a visiting fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She received her PhD in February 2007 from the University of Lugano (awarded with summa cum laude).

Jeanne has teaching experiences at the master, executive master and bachelor level, teaching at the universities of St.Gallen, Lausanne, and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. Occasionally she also conducts executive training for organizations, such as, in the past, for the United Nations, UBS, the Chamber of Judges and Attorneys of Ticino, St.Gallen Cantonal Bank, Sankt Galler Stadtwerke.
