«Raising Bonnier's attractiveness for digital talents» with Donatus Grütter, Sascha Weisshaupt, Lukas Widmer

The media economy is changing quickly: Everything is shifting to digital, which leads to a decrease of revenue in traditional channels on the one hand, but to huge possibilities for economies of scale on the other hand. Adapting to this situation is one of the biggest challenges for any international media company. One prerequisite for the step into the future is a change in the mindset of a huge part of the workforce and the ability to attract a new kind of talent.

Bonnier AB is such an international media group: headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, it has more than 10'000 employees who work for about 600 brands in 15 countries. An EMScom consulting team was asked to raise Bonnier's attractiveness for digital talents to help the company thrive in the digital era. The team combined a classic employer branding approach with the storytelling methodology to develop a strategy and concrete steps that made Bonnier one of the biggest climbers in the category "Young IT Talents" of Universum's 2013 employer ranking.

The presentation will not only give an insight into the approach chosen and the solution presented to Bonnier, but also cover the implementation of the concept and lessons learned.

The project was carried out by Bodil Ericsson Torp, former Vice President of Communication and Human Development, Bonnier; Donatus Grütter, Head of Corporate Communications, Mercedes-Benz Schweiz AG; Mary Mwendwa, Head of Corporate Affairs, Kenya Reinsurance Company Ltd; Sascha Weisshaupt, Head of Brand Strategy & Management, Swisscom AG; Lukas Widmer, former Chief Communications Officer, Halter Unternehmungen.
