2011 / Study Trip to Brussels: an exclusive, inside look at lobbying

The EMScom Alumni Association is pleased to offer this special study trip--a rare, inside look at lobbying in Brussels--to the EMScom community. While you will find the complete trip itinerary below, we have listed here just some of the special highlights of this exclusive trip.

 

Trip Highlights:

 

  • "Current state and prospects of Swiss-EU relations", presentation by Ambassador of Switzerland, Jacques de Wattteville
  • "Mechanics on how EU and its Institutions Work" presented by Mr. Jean Russotto, Steptoe and Steptoe, Brussels
  • Presentation by specialists of the EU Commission on Economic and Monetary Affairs on the current situation and prospects of the EU and the EURO (with special focus on he situation and prospects of Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Spain) 
  • Lobbying for The Coca-Cola Company in Brussels, Dr. Nikolas Tacke, European Union Affairs Director, The Coca-Cola Company
  • Visit of Coca-Cola's Innovation Center for Europe, Eurasia & Africa (Product/Packaging & Retail equipment)
  • Guided visit of European Parliament (Brussels seat) with official guide
  • "Lobbying in Brussels: The perspective of a professional lobbying firm." Meeting and presentation with the Burson-Marsteller Brussels office 
  • Dinner with Swiss and European journalists covering European affairs

 

Spaces are limited to just 20 people and registrations will be processed in order of receipt. Trip costs, online registration and hotel information are included at the end of the program itinerary. Registration and pre-payment is required by October 15, 2011.

13h00Luncheon at the Hotel Meridien, offered by Burson-Marsteller with guest speaker from the Polish Presidency of the EU in the second semester of 2011
15h15Stroll through old town of Brussels with Mr. Jörg Thalmann, retired Swiss journalist, starting at Place de la Monnaie, going through Grand-Place, continuing with quartier St. Géry and finishing with coffee at Hotel Métropole

  • Logistics and Costs

 

Hotel accommodations and airline/train transfers to Brussels are the responsibility of the particpants. Hotel reservations must be made by October 15 using the OFFICIAL RESERVATION FORM and submitted to Jennifer Hayes in the Alumni Office at jennifer [dot] hayes [at] usi [dot] ch or by Fax: +41 58 666 4739.

Cost per person is CHF. 500.-

Not included in the above fee are:
